frequently asked questions

these are the most frequent questions we receive:

  • question: my email still contains strange characters

answer: test another default encoding format, like ISO-8859-1 if you are mainly get latin attachments and for example use yahoo email service

  • question: my word attachment wasn't processed at all

answer: either it wasn't a proper word file or it might be protected by password. it can also have been saved by Microsoft Words "fast-save" functionality and therefor not be possible to convert. ask the sender of the attachment to save it in MS Word 97/2003 format, just to make sure it works fine.

  • question: what encoding format should i use?

answer: an advanced helping function is being implemented that will assist you in automatically setting up proper character encoding. we will also apply something we call recipies, which are sequences of encodings which the converter will use for your particular needs.

  • question: can you process other formats like pdf, excel, powerpoint, etc?

answer: our free service can only handle word attachments like .doc, .rtf and .xml. for more advanced attachment processing, you will need a "premium account", which we don't offer yet as we are hardening our servers and tuning the software, before we open the premium service.
